Delivery van and light truck fleets

Alexandria and the edges of Waterloo are full of warehouses, couriers and trade suppliers running vans all day. Stop-start delivery work is hard on starter motors and batteries, and every extra item fitted to a van, from scanners to fridges and work lights, adds load to the charging system. Regular battery and alternator checks are cheaper than a van that won't start on a Monday. Fleets also want consistent wiring so faults are easy to trace when a vehicle comes back in.

Reversing cameras and dashcams

Tight laneways, loading docks with bollards and crowded apartment basements make reversing cameras popular on everything from family hatchbacks to long-wheelbase vans. Dashcams are just as common, often wired to run a parking mode while the car is parked on the street. Hardwiring a dashcam properly means a fused supply and a low-voltage cut-off so it doesn't flatten the battery. Getting the cable routing right also keeps airbag areas clear, which matters in modern cars with curtain airbags along the roof lining.

Hybrid and EV 12V systems

Hybrids and EVs are a growing share of cars in the inner city, and they still rely on an ordinary 12V battery to wake the computers, unlock the doors and close the main relays. When that small battery fails, the car can look completely dead even though the high-voltage pack is full. Testing and replacing the 12V side is routine work. Anything on the orange high-voltage cabling is for licensed professionals with the right training and isolation gear only.
